Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 24, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains what personal data Hello Recipes (hellorecipes.net) collects when you browse recipes, send a message or leave a rating or comment, why we collect it, who else may receive it, and what choices you have. We have tried to keep it specific: if a practice is not described here, we do not engage in it.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information You Give Us

  • Contact form: your name, email address and the message you write. We use this only to reply to you.
  • Recipe ratings and comments: the name you enter and the text you submit. Comments may be displayed publicly on the recipe page, so please do not include sensitive personal details.

You do not need to create an account to read recipes on Hello Recipes.

1.2 Information Collected Automatically

  • Server logs: our web server records standard technical data such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested. We use these logs for security and troubleshooting.
  • First-party visit statistics: we count page views on our own server, recording the page viewed and the referring website. Raw visit records are kept for 7 days, after which only daily totals remain.
  • Cookies and similar technologies: set by the services described in Section 3.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • To reply to messages sent through the contact form
  • To publish and moderate recipe ratings and comments
  • To keep the site secure, diagnose errors and prevent abuse
  • To understand which pages are useful so we can improve recipes and navigation
  • To show advertising that helps cover the cost of running the site

We do not sell your contact-form details or comments, and we do not use them for marketing.

3. Cookies, Analytics and Advertising

Hello Recipes uses the following third-party services. Each may set cookies or process data such as your IP address and browsing activity under its own privacy policy.

  • Google AdSense: shows ads on our pages. Personalized ads are shown only with your consent. Visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland see a Google consent message where they can accept or decline.
  • HB Agency: our programmatic advertising partner, whose advertising partners may also set cookies to serve and measure ads.
  • Google Analytics: uses cookies to produce aggregated statistics about how visitors use the site.
  • Cloudflare: provides content delivery and security for the site and may set technical cookies needed for those purposes.

Managing Advertising and Cookies

  • Manage Google ad personalization at adssettings.google.com.
  • Learn how Google uses data from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
  • You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking some cookies may affect parts of the site, and you will still see ads, though they may be less relevant to you.

4. Who We Share Data With

We share data only as follows:

  • Advertising and analytics providers listed in Section 3, which receive cookie and device data when you visit.
  • Cloudflare, which processes traffic to deliver and protect the site.
  • Authorities, if we are legally required to disclose information.

Our pages link to our Pinterest profile. If you follow that link, Pinterest's own privacy policy applies to what happens there.

5. Legal Bases for Processing (EEA, UK and Switzerland)

If you are in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, we process your data on these bases under the GDPR:

  • Consent for personalized advertising and non-essential cookies, which you can withdraw at any time.
  • Legitimate interests for server logs, security, first-party statistics and aggregated analytics.
  • Legitimate interests or your request for replying to your messages and publishing the comments and ratings you submit.

6. Your Rights Under the GDPR

If the GDPR or UK GDPR applies to you, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Have inaccurate data corrected
  • Have your data erased
  • Restrict or object to certain processing
  • Receive your data in a portable format
  • Withdraw consent at any time, without affecting earlier processing
  • Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority

To use these rights, write to us through the Contact Us page.

7. California Privacy Rights (CCPA/CPRA)

If you are a California resident, you have the right to:

  • Know what personal information we collect, use and disclose
  • Request deletion of your personal information
  • Request correction of inaccurate information
  • Opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising
  • Not be discriminated against for exercising these rights

Advertising cookies from the partners in Section 3 may count as "sharing" under California law. You can opt out through the Google links in Section 3, through your browser's cookie settings or a global privacy control signal, or by contacting us. We do not knowingly sell personal information from the contact form or comments. To make a request, use the Contact Us page; we may need to verify your identity before acting on it.

8. Data Retention

  • Contact messages: kept only as long as needed to answer you and handle any follow-up, then deleted.
  • Ratings and comments: kept with the recipe page until you ask us to remove them or we remove them in moderation.
  • First-party visit records: raw records are kept for 7 days, then only daily totals remain.
  • Server logs: kept for a limited period for security and troubleshooting.
  • Third-party cookies and analytics data: retained according to each provider's own policy.

9. International Data Transfers

Some of our providers, including Google and Cloudflare, process data in countries outside your own, including the United States. Where required, such transfers rely on safeguards such as standard contractual clauses or other mechanisms provided by those companies.

10. Data Security

We use reasonable technical measures to protect the information we hold, and our traffic is served through Cloudflare's security services. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please avoid putting sensitive personal information in comments or messages.

11. Children's Privacy

Hello Recipes is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has sent us personal data through the contact form or a comment, please contact us and we will delete it.

12. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this policy when our practices or the services we use change. The latest version is always on this page, and the "Last updated" date above shows when it was last revised. Please also read our Terms of use.
