Ingredients:

  • 1 cup (240 ml) heavy cream
  • 8 oz (227 g) semisweet chocolate, chopped (or chocolate chips)
  • 2 tablespoons (30 g) unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon (5 ml) vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions:

  1. In a medium saucepan, over medium heat, warm the heavy cream until it starts to steam but is not boiling.
  2. Remove the saucepan from the heat and add the chopped chocolate (or chips) to the hot cream. Allow it to sit for 1-2 minutes.
  3. Use a whisk to mix the chocolate and cream until the chocolate is fully melted and the mixture is glossy.
  4. Add the unsalted butter and stir until completely melted and combined.
  5. Stir in the vanilla extract and a pinch of salt to enhance the chocolate flavor.
  6. Allow the sauce to cool for a few minutes before serving. It will thicken as it cools.
