Ingredients:

  • 2 medium (approx. 1 lb / 450g) Granny Smith or Honeycrisp apples, peeled and sliced into ¼-inch wedges
  • 2 tbsp (28g) unsalted butter
  • 2 tbsp (25g) light brown sugar, packed
  • 1 tsp (2.6g) ground cinnamon
  • 1 tsp (5ml) fresh lemon juice
  • 1 pinch (0.5g) kosher salt
  • 2 scoops (approx. 1 cup / 240ml) vanilla bean ice cream

Instructions:

  1. Peel, core, and slice the apples into uniform wedges. Toss them in a bowl with the lemon juice to prevent oxidation.
  2. Melt the butter over medium-high heat until it begins to foam. Add the apple slices in a single layer and sear undisturbed for 2–3 minutes until the edges turn golden brown.
  3. Sprinkle the brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt evenly over the apples. Gently toss the slices to coat and cook for another 3–5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sugar has dissolved into a bubbling, mahogany-colored syrup.
  4. Spoon the sizzling apples immediately over two large scoops of vanilla ice cream and drizzle the remaining pan syrup over the top.
