Ingredients:
- 1 can (15 oz) refried beans (425 g), preferably vegetarian
- 1 cup (240 ml) shredded cheddar cheese
- ½ cup (120 ml) sour cream
- ½ cup (120 ml) salsa (mild or hot, based on preference)
- ¼ cup (60 ml) diced green chilies (optional)
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 tsp ground cumin (2 g)
- ½ tsp onion powder (1 g)
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
- Heat a skillet over medium heat. Add a splash of oil if desired. Sauté garlic until fragrant (about 1 minute).
- Stir in the refried beans, cumin, onion powder, and green chilies. Mix well, heating until warm.
- Add sour cream and salsa to the bean mixture. Stir until fully combined and the dip is heated through.
- Sprinkle half the shredded cheese into the dip, mixing until melted and smooth.
- Pour the mixture into a serving dish and sprinkle the remaining cheese on top.
- For a bubbly top, place under the broiler for 2-3 minutes until cheese is golden.
- Enjoy warm with tortilla chips or fresh veggies.
