Ingredients:
- 3 ripe avocados (about 500g), Haas avocados preferred
- 1/2 small red onion (about 50g), finely diced
- 1-2 serrano or jalapeño peppers (depending on heat preference), finely minced
- 1/4 cup fresh cilantro (coriander leaves, about 10g), chopped
- 2-3 tablespoons fresh lime juice (from about 1-2 limes)
- 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt (or to taste)
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cumin (optional)
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
- 1 small tomato (about 100g), seeded and diced (optional, for extra texture)
Instructions:
- Halve the avocados, remove the pits, and scoop the flesh into a mixing bowl.
- Use a fork or potato masher to mash the avocados to your desired consistency.
- Add the diced red onion and minced chili pepper to the bowl.
- Stir in the chopped cilantro, salt, cumin (if using), and garlic powder (if using).
- Squeeze in the lime juice. Start with 2 tablespoons and add more to taste.
- If using, gently fold in the diced tomato.
- Taste the guacamole and adjust seasonings as needed. Add more salt, lime juice, or chili pepper to your liking.
- Serve immediately with tortilla chips, crudités, or your favorite accompaniments.
