Ingredients:

  • 60 ml (2 oz) Vodka (good quality, neutral-tasting)
  • 30 ml (1 oz) Freshly Brewed Espresso (cooled)
  • 30 ml (1 oz) Coffee Liqueur (Kahlúa recommended, or similar)
  • 7.5 ml (0.25 oz) Simple Syrup (equal parts sugar and water, dissolved) Optional, adjust to taste
  • Ice cubes (enough to fill shaker)
  • 3 Coffee Beans (for classic presentation)

Instructions:

  1. Chill your martini glass in the freezer for a few minutes, or fill with ice water while you prepare the drink.
  2. Fill the cocktail shaker with ice cubes.
  3. Pour the vodka, espresso, coffee liqueur, and simple syrup (if using) into the shaker.
  4. Seal the shaker tightly and shake vigorously for 15-20 seconds. This chills the drink and creates a frothy head.
  5. Empty the chilled glass and strain the cocktail through a Hawthorne strainer into the chilled martini glass. This removes ice shards and ensures a smooth drink.
  6. Garnish with three coffee beans, arranged attractively on the surface of the foam.
  7. Present your masterpiece and enjoy!
