Ingredients:
- 60 ml (2 oz) Vodka (good quality, neutral-tasting)
- 30 ml (1 oz) Freshly Brewed Espresso (cooled)
- 30 ml (1 oz) Coffee Liqueur (Kahlúa recommended, or similar)
- 7.5 ml (0.25 oz) Simple Syrup (equal parts sugar and water, dissolved) Optional, adjust to taste
- Ice cubes (enough to fill shaker)
- 3 Coffee Beans (for classic presentation)
Instructions:
- Chill your martini glass in the freezer for a few minutes, or fill with ice water while you prepare the drink.
- Fill the cocktail shaker with ice cubes.
- Pour the vodka, espresso, coffee liqueur, and simple syrup (if using) into the shaker.
- Seal the shaker tightly and shake vigorously for 15-20 seconds. This chills the drink and creates a frothy head.
- Empty the chilled glass and strain the cocktail through a Hawthorne strainer into the chilled martini glass. This removes ice shards and ensures a smooth drink.
- Garnish with three coffee beans, arranged attractively on the surface of the foam.
- Present your masterpiece and enjoy!
