Ingredients:

  • 1 teaspoon (3g) matcha powder
  • 2 tablespoons (30ml) hot water
  • 1 cup (240ml) milk of your choice
  • Optional: 1-2 teaspoons (5-10ml) sweetener

Instructions:

  1. Sift the matcha powder into the small bowl. Add the hot water. Whisk vigorously using a matcha whisk (chasen) or regular whisk until a smooth, vibrant green paste forms with no lumps.
  2. Gently warm the milk in a saucepan over medium heat, being careful not to scald it. Alternatively, use a milk frother if you have one. If using a saucepan, whisk occasionally to prevent a skin from forming.
  3. Stir in your chosen sweetener to the warmed milk, if desired.
  4. Pour the whisked matcha paste into your mug. Slowly pour the warmed milk over the matcha, reserving a little foam for the top.
  5. Spoon or pour the remaining milk foam over the latte.
  6. Drink immediately and savor the moment.
