Ingredients:

  • ounces (60 ml) Good quality Vodka, chilled
  • ounce (22 ml) Freshly squeezed lime juice
  • –6 ounces (120–180 ml) Artisanal, spicy Ginger Beer
  • Plenty of Ice Cubes
  • Lime Wheel or Wedge, for garnish
  • small Mint Sprig (optional, for garnish)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the mug: Fill the copper mug completely to the brim with ice. The colder the ice, the better the dilution control.
  2. Measure spirits & citrus: Add the chilled vodka and the freshly squeezed lime juice directly over the ice in the mug.
  3. Gentle integration: Use the bar spoon to gently stir the vodka and lime together for just 2-3 seconds. You are just chilling the base, not aerating it yet.
  4. Top with ginger beer: Slowly top the mixture with the cold ginger beer. Pouring slowly helps preserve the carbonation.
  5. Final stir (The essential step): Give the drink one gentle lift and stir from the bottom of the mug upwards. Over-stirring will flatten the fizz!
  6. Garnish and serve: Garnish immediately with a fresh lime wheel resting on the rim. If using mint, gently 'clap' the sprig between your palms to release the oils, then tuck it next to the lime. Serve immediately.
