Ingredients:

  • 1 pound (450g) fresh green beans, trimmed
  • 2 tablespoons (30ml) olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons (30ml) fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon (15ml) water
  • 1 tablespoon (15ml) chopped fresh parsley (or chives)
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste

Instructions:

  1. Wash and trim the green beans.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add minced garlic and red pepper flakes (if using) and sauté for about 30 seconds, until fragrant.
  3. Add the green beans to the skillet. Season with salt and pepper. Sauté for 6-8 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the beans are crisp-tender and bright green.
  4. Pour in the lemon juice and water. Stir to combine. Cook for another minute, allowing the beans to absorb the flavors.
  5. Remove from heat and garnish with fresh parsley (or chives). Serve immediately.
