Ingredients:

  • 350g (2 ¾ cups) All-purpose flour or Bread flour
  • 7g (1 packet) Instant yeast
  • 10g (2 tsp) Granulated sugar or honey
  • 5g (1 tsp) Fine sea salt
  • 240ml (1 cup) Warm water at 110°F/43°C
  • 30ml (2 tbsp) Extra virgin olive oil
  • 5ml (1 tsp) Extra virgin olive oil for coating
  • 10g (1 tbsp) Cornmeal for the baking sheet

Instructions:

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the warm water, sugar (or honey), and instant yeast. Whisk gently and let it sit for 5 minutes until the surface is foamy and smells nutty.
  2. Add the 30ml of olive oil and salt to the yeast mixture.
  3. Gradually fold in the flour using a wooden spoon or stand mixer until the dough pulls away from the sides of the bowl and forms a shaggy, cohesive mass.
  4. Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface. Knead for 3 to 5 minutes by hand (or 2 minutes in a stand mixer on medium-low) until the dough is smooth and elastic.
