Ingredients:

  • 1 cup (200g) quinoa, rinsed thoroughly
  • 2 cups (475ml) water or broth (vegetable or chicken), preferably low-sodium
  • 1/4 teaspoon (1.5g) salt
  • Optional: 1 tablespoon (14g) olive oil or butter
  • Optional: 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder, onion powder, or other spices

Instructions:

  1. Place quinoa in a fine-mesh sieve and rinse thoroughly under cold water for 1-2 minutes.
  2. In a medium saucepan, combine the rinsed quinoa, water or broth, salt, and optional olive oil or butter (and spices if using).
  3. Bring the mixture to a rolling boil over medium-high heat.
  4. Once boiling, reduce heat to low, cover the saucepan with a lid, and simmer for 15 minutes.
  5. Remove the saucepan from the heat (keeping the lid on) and let it sit for 5 minutes.
  6. Fluff the quinoa with a fork to separate the grains.
  7. Serve immediately or store for later use.
