Ingredients:
- 1 cup (200g) quinoa, rinsed thoroughly
- 2 cups (475ml) water or broth (vegetable or chicken), preferably low-sodium
- 1/4 teaspoon (1.5g) salt
- Optional: 1 tablespoon (14g) olive oil or butter
- Optional: 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder, onion powder, or other spices
Instructions:
- Place quinoa in a fine-mesh sieve and rinse thoroughly under cold water for 1-2 minutes.
- In a medium saucepan, combine the rinsed quinoa, water or broth, salt, and optional olive oil or butter (and spices if using).
- Bring the mixture to a rolling boil over medium-high heat.
- Once boiling, reduce heat to low, cover the saucepan with a lid, and simmer for 15 minutes.
- Remove the saucepan from the heat (keeping the lid on) and let it sit for 5 minutes.
- Fluff the quinoa with a fork to separate the grains.
- Serve immediately or store for later use.
