Ingredients:

  • ½ cup (45g) rolled oats (not instant or quick-cooking)
  • 1 cup (240ml) water
  • Pinch of salt
  • Optional Toppings: Milk, cream, brown sugar, honey, fresh fruit, nuts, seeds, a dollop of jam

Instructions:

  1. In the saucepan, combine the rolled oats, water, and salt.
  2. Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat.
  3. Reduce the heat to low and simmer, stirring frequently to prevent sticking, for 5-7 minutes, or until the oatmeal reaches your desired consistency. (The longer you cook it, the creamier it gets!)
  4. Remove from heat and transfer to a bowl.
  5. Add your desired toppings and enjoy immediately.
