Ingredients:

  • 2 cups white rice (e.g., Jasmine or Basmati)
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter or olive oil (optional)
  • 2 cups brown rice (e.g., Long Grain or Short Grain)
  • 2 ½ cups water
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter or olive oil (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Rinse white rice under cold water until water runs clear (about 2-3 times). Drain well in a strainer.
  2. Place rinsed rice into the Instant Pot. Add the correct amount of water (and butter or oil, if using).
  3. Close the Instant Pot lid and set the valve to sealing.
  4. For white rice, select 'Manual' or 'Pressure Cook' and set the time for 4 minutes. For brown rice, set for 22 minutes.
  5. Once cooking time is complete, allow a natural pressure release for 10 minutes, then carefully turn the valve to release any remaining pressure.
  6. Open the lid and fluff the rice with a fork. Serve hot or keep warm in the Instant Pot.
