Ingredients:
- 5 ounces High-Quality Vodka (80 Proof)
- 4 ounces 100% Cranberry Juice (Unsweetened or Low Sugar Preferred)
- 5 ounces Freshly Squeezed Lime Juice
- 1 Lime Wheel or Wedge (for garnish)
- Ice (As needed)
Instructions:
- Prepare the Glassware: Select your highball or Collins glass. If you have time, place the glass in the freezer for 5 minutes—a properly chilled glass is half the battle.
- Ready the Ingredients: Slice your lime for juice and garnish. Ensure your vodka and cranberry juice are chilled.
- Combine Liquids (Shaker Method): Fill the cocktail shaker 3/4 full with fresh, solid ice. Pour the 1.5 oz (45 ml) of vodka, 4 oz (120 ml) of cranberry juice, and 0.5 oz (15 ml) of fresh lime juice into the shaker.
- Chill and Dilute: Secure the lid and shake vigorously for 10–15 seconds, until the outside of the shaker is thoroughly frosted.
- Pour and Serve: Fill your prepared serving glass completely with fresh ice (never reuse the shaker ice). Strain the chilled cocktail mixture directly over the fresh ice.
- Garnish: Place the lime wheel or wedge on the rim or drop it gently into the drink. Serve immediately.
- Stirring Method alternative: If skipping the shaker, pour the ingredients directly into the ice-filled serving glass. Stir gently but thoroughly with a long-handled spoon for about 30 seconds to ensure proper mixing and chilling before garnishing.
