Ingredients:
- 1 cup (240 ml) ketchup
- 1/2 cup (120 ml) apple cider vinegar
- 1/4 cup (60 ml) molasses
- 1/4 cup (60 ml) brown sugar, packed
- 2 tablespoons (30 ml) Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon (15 ml) yellow mustard
- 1 tablespoon (15 ml) smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon (5 ml) garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon (2.5 ml) onion powder
- 1/4 teaspoon (1.25 ml) cayenne pepper (or more, to taste)
- Salt and black pepper to taste
Instructions:
- In a medium saucepan, whisk together all ingredients: ketchup, apple cider vinegar, molasses, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, yellow mustard, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne pepper.
- Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer over medium-low heat.
- Simmer, uncovered, for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking.
- Taste the sauce and adjust seasonings as needed. Add more cayenne pepper for heat, brown sugar for sweetness, or vinegar for tang. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
- Remove from heat and let cool completely. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
