Ingredients:

  • 1 cup (240 ml) ketchup
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) apple cider vinegar
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) molasses
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) brown sugar, packed
  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) yellow mustard
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon (5 ml) garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon (2.5 ml) onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon (1.25 ml) cayenne pepper (or more, to taste)
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions:

  1. In a medium saucepan, whisk together all ingredients: ketchup, apple cider vinegar, molasses, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, yellow mustard, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne pepper.
  2. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer over medium-low heat.
  3. Simmer, uncovered, for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking.
  4. Taste the sauce and adjust seasonings as needed. Add more cayenne pepper for heat, brown sugar for sweetness, or vinegar for tang. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
  5. Remove from heat and let cool completely. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
