Ingredients:

  • 1 lb green or red grapes, firm and seedless
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 25 Jolly Rancher candies, sorted by color
  • 0.25 cup Wonka Nerds

Instructions:

  1. Wash the 1 lb of grapes in water mixed with 1 tbsp lemon juice. Note: This removes the bloom or wax that prevents candy from sticking.
  2. Dry completely. This is the most important step. Use a lint free towel to dry every single grape until the skin feels tacky, not slick.
  3. Insert a toothpick into the stem end of each grape.
  4. Place 25 Jolly Ranchers into glass bowls, grouping them by color (about 5-6 per bowl).
  5. Microwave one bowl at a time for 30 seconds, then in 15 second intervals until the candy is bubbling and completely liquid.
  6. Tilt the bowl and swirl the grape in the molten candy quickly. Cook until the shell looks glassy and thin.
  7. Immediately roll the bottom half of the grape in the 0.25 cup of Nerds until the candy is pebbled and colorful.
  8. Place the grape upright (skewer up) on the silicone mat.
  9. Repeat rapidly. If the candy in the bowl starts to thicken, pop it back in the microwave for 10 seconds.
  10. Let them sit for 5 minutes until the shell is hard and makes a clink sound when tapped.
