Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 3 cloves (15g) garlic, finely minced
  • 2 tbsp (8g) fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1/2 tsp (3g) kosher salt
  • 1/4 tsp (1g) black pepper
  • 1 loaf (approx. 12 oz / 340g) French baguette or Italian bread
  • 1/4 cup (25g) grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions:

  1. Combine the softened butter, minced garlic, parsley, salt, and pepper in a bowl. Mash with a fork until the garlic is evenly distributed and the butter is velvety.
  2. Cut the baguette into 1-inch thick slices, slicing at a slight diagonal to increase the surface area for butter and grilling.
  3. Spread a generous layer of the garlic compound butter on one side of each bread slice.
  4. Place the buttered side down over medium-high heat on the grill for 2–3 minutes until deep brown sear marks appear and the aroma is nutty.
  5. Flip the bread slices, sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese if desired, and grill for another 1–2 minutes until the cheese is melted and the edges are crisp.
