Ingredients:
- 8 cups cubed stale bread (such as brioche, challah, or French bread)
- 4 large eggs
- 3 cups whole milk
- 1 cup heavy cream
- ¾ cup granulated sugar
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
- ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
- Pinch of salt

Instructions:
- Cube the stale bread and place it in the baking dish.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, heavy cream, sugar, melted butter, vanilla extract, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
- Pour the custard mixture over the bread cubes, pressing down gently to ensure even soaking. Let sit for at least 30 minutes. Sprinkle raisins over the top, if using.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the bread pudding uncovered for 45-55 minutes, or until golden brown and the custard is set.
- Let the bread pudding cool slightly before serving. Dust with powdered sugar, if desired.
