Ingredients:

  • 4 slices of sourdough bread (about 4 oz/113g each)
  • 4 oz (113g) sharp cheddar cheese, sliced
  • 4 oz (113g) Gruyère cheese, sliced
  • 1 tablespoon (14g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 tablespoon (15ml) mayonnaise (optional for added creaminess)

Instructions:

  1. Gather all required ingredients and slice the cheese if not pre-sliced.
  2. Spread softened butter evenly on one side of each slice of bread. (Optional) Spread mayonnaise on the opposite side for extra creaminess.
  3. Layer cheese (cheddar and Gruyère) between two slices of bread, buttered side out.
  4. Follow the manufacturers instructions to preheat the grilled cheese maker.
  5. Place the assembled sandwich in the preheated maker. Close the lid and grill for 4-5 minutes, or until golden brown and the cheese is melted.
  6. Remove when the bread is crispy and golden; the internal cheese should be gooey and melty.
  7. Cut the sandwich in half, serve warm, and enjoy!
