Ingredients:
- 4 slices of sourdough bread (about 4 oz/113g each)
- 4 oz (113g) sharp cheddar cheese, sliced
- 4 oz (113g) Gruyère cheese, sliced
- 1 tablespoon (14g) unsalted butter, softened
- 1 tablespoon (15ml) mayonnaise (optional for added creaminess)
Instructions:
- Gather all required ingredients and slice the cheese if not pre-sliced.
- Spread softened butter evenly on one side of each slice of bread. (Optional) Spread mayonnaise on the opposite side for extra creaminess.
- Layer cheese (cheddar and Gruyère) between two slices of bread, buttered side out.
- Follow the manufacturers instructions to preheat the grilled cheese maker.
- Place the assembled sandwich in the preheated maker. Close the lid and grill for 4-5 minutes, or until golden brown and the cheese is melted.
- Remove when the bread is crispy and golden; the internal cheese should be gooey and melty.
- Cut the sandwich in half, serve warm, and enjoy!
