Ingredients:
- 1 box (15.25 oz) yellow cake mix
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 large egg
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 2 large eggs
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 8 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
- 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
- 1/4 tsp salt
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking pan or line with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, combine yellow cake mix, melted butter, and one egg; mix until a soft, thick dough forms.
- Press the dough evenly into the bottom of the pan, ensuring corners are filled.
- In a separate bowl, beat softened cream cheese until smooth and lump-free.
- Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
- Slowly incorporate powdered sugar and salt on low speed.
- Stir in melted butter and vanilla extract until the mixture is glossy and pale.
- Pour the topping over the pressed base and spread to the edges.
- Bake for 35–40 minutes until edges are mahogany-gold and the center has a slight wobble.
- Remove from oven and cool completely in the pan to allow the topping to set.
