Ingredients:
- 1 lb (450 g) ground beef
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp (5 g) ground cumin
- 1 tsp (5 g) chili powder
- ½ tsp (2 g) smoked paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
- ¼ cup (60 ml) beef broth or water
- 8-10 corn tortillas
- Vegetable oil (for frying)
- Fresh cilantro, chopped (optional)
- Sour cream (optional)
- Salsa or pico de gallo (optional)
- Shredded cheese (e.g., queso fresco or cheddar) (optional)
Instructions:
- Heat the skillet over medium heat and add the ground beef. Sauté until browned, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon.
- Add chopped onion and garlic; continue cooking until translucent. Stir in spices and broth; let simmer for 5 minutes. Set aside.
- Warm tortillas briefly to soften. Place 2-3 tablespoons of beef filling in the center of each tortilla. Roll tightly and secure with a toothpick if needed.
- Place assembled flautas on a tray and chill for 30 minutes to help them hold shape while frying.
- Heat vegetable oil in a deep frying pan over medium-high heat. Fry flautas in batches until crispy and golden brown, about 3-4 minutes per side.
- Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels. Arrange on a plate, garnish with toppings, and enjoy!
