Ingredients:

  • 1 cup (200g) brown rice, rinsed
  • 2 cups (480ml) water or broth
  • 1 tablespoon (15ml) olive oil (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon (3g) salt (optional, adjust to taste)

Instructions:

  1. Place the brown rice in a fine mesh strainer and rinse under cold water until the water runs clear.
  2. In a saucepan, combine rinsed rice, water or broth, olive oil, and salt.
  3. Over medium-high heat, bring the mixture to a rolling boil.
  4. Reduce heat to low, cover the saucepan with a lid, and let it simmer for about 40-45 minutes, or until the liquid is absorbed.
  5. Once cooked, remove the saucepan from heat and let it sit, covered, for an additional 10 minutes.
  6. Fluff the rice with a fork and serve as desired.
