Ingredients:
- 1 sheet (255g) frozen puff pastry, thawed
- 1 large (50g) egg
- 1 tbsp (15ml) milk
- 4 oz (113g) cream cheese, softened
- 2 tbsp (30ml) honey
- 1/2 tsp (2.5ml) vanilla extract
- 1 pinch (0.5g) salt
- 12 oz (340g) fresh figs, stemmed and sliced into 3mm half-moons
- 1 tbsp (15ml) melted butter
- 1 tbsp (15ml) honey
- 1/4 tsp (1g) ground cinnamon
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Roll out the thawed puff pastry on a lightly floured surface and cut into 6 equal rectangles.
- Lightly score a border about 1/2 inch (1.2cm) from the edge of each rectangle without cutting all the way through.
- Whisk the egg and milk together and brush the scored border of each rectangle with the wash.
- In a bowl, beat the softened cream cheese, 2 tbsp honey, vanilla, and salt until velvety and smooth.
- Spread approximately 1 tbsp of the cream cheese mixture into the center of each pastry rectangle, leaving the borders clean.
- Arrange the fig slices closely over the cream cheese in an overlapping pattern.
- Whisk the melted butter, 1 tbsp honey, and cinnamon together, then brush the glaze generously over the figs.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes until the pastry edges have risen significantly and turned golden brown.
