Ingredients:
- 2 cups (475 ml) heavy cream, cold
- 1/2 cup (100 g) granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon (5 ml) vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon (1.5 ml) salt
- 1 bag (450g) of ice cubes
- 1/2 cup (110g) salt
- Optional: Chocolate shavings, sprinkles, chopped nuts, or fresh fruit for topping
Instructions:
- In the smaller zip-top bag, combine heavy cream, sugar, vanilla extract, and salt. Seal tightly, removing as much air as possible.
- Fill the larger zip-top bag with ice cubes and salt. Salt lowers the freezing point of water, making the ice cream freeze faster.
- Place the smaller bag inside the larger bag and seal securely. Wrap the bag in a kitchen towel or use oven mitts to protect your hands from the cold.
- Shake the bag vigorously for about 3 minutes, or until the mixture has thickened into ice cream. Keep shaking!
- Check the consistency of the ice cream. If it's not firm enough, continue shaking for another minute or two.
- Spoon the ice cream into bowls and top with your favorite toppings. Serve immediately, as it will melt quickly.
