Ingredients:
- 4 ounces (120 mL) freshly brewed and cooled espresso
- 6 ounces (180 mL) quality vodka
- 2 ounces (60 mL) coffee liqueur, such as Kahlúa
- 1 ounce (30 mL) simple syrup, or to taste
- Ice cubes, for serving
- Coffee beans, for garnish (optional)
- 1 cup (240 mL) water for simple syrup
- 1 cup (200 g) granulated sugar for simple syrup
Instructions:
- In a small saucepan, combine equal parts water and sugar. Heat over medium heat until sugar dissolves completely. Allow to cool before using.
- Brew 4 ounces of espresso and allow it to cool to room temperature.
- In a cocktail shaker, combine the cooled espresso, vodka, coffee liqueur, and simple syrup. Fill the shaker with ice cubes.
- Secure the lid on the shaker and shake vigorously for about 15-20 seconds until the mixture is well chilled and frothy.
- Strain the mixture into chilled martini or coupe glasses, using a fine mesh sieve for an extra smooth pour if desired.
- Top with a few coffee beans, if using, and serve immediately.
