Ingredients:

  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg yolk

  • ½ cup packed brown sugar
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • ½ cup chopped walnuts (optional)
  • ¼ teaspoon salt

Instructions:

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine flour and salt.
  2. Add softened butter and sugar; mix until crumbly.
  3. Incorporate the egg yolk, mixing until dough forms.
  4. Roll out dough and preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  5. Fit dough into the pie dish and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
  6. In a separate bowl, whisk together brown sugar, granulated sugar, and salt.
  7. Add eggs and vanilla; beat until well combined.
  8. Fold in the chocolate chips and walnuts.
  9. Pour the filling mixture into the chilled pie crust.
  10. Spread it evenly with a spatula.
  11. Bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes or until the center is set and the top is golden.
  12. Allow to cool slightly before serving.
