Ingredients:

  • 2 lb Brussels Sprouts, fresh (trimmed and halved lengthwise)
  • 2 Tbsp Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • 1 tsp Coarse Sea Salt
  • 1/2 tsp Freshly Ground Black Pepper
  • 1/2 tsp Garlic Powder
  • 2 Tbsp Balsamic Glaze (or reduced balsamic vinegar, optional)
  • 1/4 cup Finely Grated Parmesan Cheese (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Trim the woody ends off the Brussels sprouts and peel away any loose or discoloured outer leaves. Cut the sprouts in half lengthwise. If they are wet, pat them thoroughly dry with a tea towel; moisture prevents crispness.
  2. Place the halved sprouts into a large mixing bowl. Drizzle with olive oil. Add the salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
  3. Use your hands to toss the sprouts vigorously until every piece is evenly coated with oil and seasoning.
  4. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for 5 minutes. High heat is essential for rapid caramelization.
  5. Place the seasoned sprouts in the air fryer basket in a single layer, or as close to a single layer as possible. Do not overcrowd; cook in separate batches if necessary.
  6. Cook the sprouts for 8 minutes at 400°F (200°C).
  7. Open the basket and give the sprouts a vigorous shake to flip them over. Return to the air fryer.
  8. Continue cooking for an additional 7–10 minutes, or until the sprouts are deeply browned, charred on the edges, and tender when pierced with a fork.
  9. Transfer all cooked sprouts to a clean, warm serving bowl. If desired, drizzle the warm sprouts with the balsamic glaze and toss quickly. Immediately sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese.
  10. Serve immediately while the edges are still crisp.
