Ingredients:

  • 2 fl oz (60 mL) Vodka
  • 2 fl oz (60 mL) Orange Liqueur (Cointreau or Triple Sec)
  • 2 fl oz (60 mL) Fresh Lime Juice
  • 2 Lime Wheels or Wedges (for garnish)
  • Generous Handful of Ice (for shaking)

Instructions:

  1. Chill Glassware: Place the two shot glasses in the freezer or fill them with ice water while preparing the ingredients. This ensures the drink remains icy cold upon serving.
  2. Squeeze Lime: Juice the fresh lime(s) and measure precisely 2 fl oz (60 mL) of fresh juice. Bottled juice is not recommended for this classic Kamikaze Shot.
  3. Combine Ingredients: Pour the vodka, orange liqueur, and fresh lime juice directly into the cocktail shaker.
  4. Add Ice: Fill the shaker 3/4 full with solid ice cubes. Use ample, fresh ice for maximum chilling and dilution.
  5. The Shake: Seal the shaker firmly. Shake vigorously for a minimum of 15–20 seconds until the exterior of the shaker is thoroughly frosted and very cold to the touch. This hard shake ensures proper aeration and temperature drop.
  6. Strain and Serve: Empty the chilled shot glasses of any ice or water. Fine-strain the liquid evenly into the two prepared shot glasses. Garnish each shot with a small lime wheel or wedge immediately before serving.
