Ingredients:
- 4 medium apples (e.g., Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg (optional)
- 1/4 cup raisins or walnuts (optional)
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup rolled oats
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Core the apples using a knife or apple corer, leaving the bottom intact.
- Mix melted butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg in a bowl.
- Stuff the cored apples with the butter mixture, adding raisins or walnuts if using.
- Prepare the crumble topping: In another bowl, mix flour, oats, sugar, cinnamon, and cubed butter until crumbly.
- Place filled apples in the baking dish and sprinkle crumble topping generously over each one.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, until apples are tender and topping is golden brown.
- Serve warm, optionally with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
