Ingredients:

  • 4 medium apples (e.g., Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg (optional)
  • 1/4 cup raisins or walnuts (optional)
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup rolled oats
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Core the apples using a knife or apple corer, leaving the bottom intact.
  3. Mix melted butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg in a bowl.
  4. Stuff the cored apples with the butter mixture, adding raisins or walnuts if using.
  5. Prepare the crumble topping: In another bowl, mix flour, oats, sugar, cinnamon, and cubed butter until crumbly.
  6. Place filled apples in the baking dish and sprinkle crumble topping generously over each one.
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes, until apples are tender and topping is golden brown.
  8. Serve warm, optionally with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
