Ingredients:
- 2 cups (240g) all-purpose flour, sifted
- 1 ½ cups (300g) granulated sugar
- 1 cup (227g) unsalted butter, softened to room temperature
- 4 large eggs (about 227g)
- 1 cup (240ml) whole milk
- 2 teaspoons (10ml) vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon (15g) baking powder
- ½ teaspoon (2g) salt
- Powdered sugar for dusting
- Fresh berries or whipped cream
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Grease the loaf pan or cake pans with butter and lightly flour, or line the bottom with parchment paper.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
- In another bowl, beat the softened butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy (about 3-5 minutes).
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk. Mix until just combined.
- Transfer the batter into the prepared pan(s) and smooth the top with a spatula.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Allow cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Dust with powdered sugar if desired, and serve with fresh berries or whipped cream.
