Ingredients:
- 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
- 6 tablespoons (90g) unsalted butter, cubed
- 1/2 cup (120ml) heavy cream
- 2 cups (480ml) vanilla ice cream
- 1 cup (240ml) whole milk
- 1/4 cup (60ml) homemade caramel sauce (plus more for drizzling)
- Whipped cream, for topping (optional)
- Sea salt, for finishing (optional)
Instructions:
- In a small saucepan, heat the granulated sugar over medium heat, stirring constantly until melted and amber in color.
- Carefully add the butter and whisk until melted.
- Slowly pour in the heavy cream while whisking continuously. Cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until smooth.
- Remove from heat and cool for at least 5 minutes.
- In a blender, combine vanilla ice cream, milk, and 1/4 cup of the cooled caramel sauce.
- Blend on high until smooth and creamy.
- Drizzle caramel sauce inside the glasses before pouring in the milkshake.
- Pour the milkshake into the glasses, and if desired, top with whipped cream and a sprinkle of sea salt.
- Serve immediately, with extra caramel sauce on the side.
