Ingredients:

  • 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
  • 6 tablespoons (90g) unsalted butter, cubed
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) heavy cream
  • 2 cups (480ml) vanilla ice cream
  • 1 cup (240ml) whole milk
  • 1/4 cup (60ml) homemade caramel sauce (plus more for drizzling)
  • Whipped cream, for topping (optional)
  • Sea salt, for finishing (optional)

Instructions:

  1. In a small saucepan, heat the granulated sugar over medium heat, stirring constantly until melted and amber in color.
  2. Carefully add the butter and whisk until melted.
  3. Slowly pour in the heavy cream while whisking continuously. Cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until smooth.
  4. Remove from heat and cool for at least 5 minutes.
  5. In a blender, combine vanilla ice cream, milk, and 1/4 cup of the cooled caramel sauce.
  6. Blend on high until smooth and creamy.
  7. Drizzle caramel sauce inside the glasses before pouring in the milkshake.
  8. Pour the milkshake into the glasses, and if desired, top with whipped cream and a sprinkle of sea salt.
  9. Serve immediately, with extra caramel sauce on the side.
