- ½ cup (100g) granulated sugar
- ¼ tsp cinnamon
- Pinch of salt
Instructions:
- In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, yeast, and salt.
- Add warm milk, melted butter, and eggs; mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, until doubled in size.
- In a small bowl, mix brown sugar and cinnamon.
- Set aside softened butter for spreading on the dough.
- In a skillet, melt butter over medium heat, add diced apples, sugar, cinnamon, and salt.
- Cook until apples are tender and caramelized, about 5-7 minutes; set aside to cool.
- Roll out the dough on a floured surface into a rectangle (about 16x12 inches).
- Spread softened butter evenly over the dough; sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture on top.
- Evenly distribute the caramelized apples over the sugar layer.
- Starting from one long edge, roll the dough tightly into a log.
- Slice the log into 12 even pieces.
- Arrange the rolls in a greased baking dish, cut side up, cover and let rise for another 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake rolls for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Allow to cool slightly before serving, optionally drizzled with icing.
