Ingredients:
- 2 cups (240 g) all-purpose flour
- 1 ½ cups (300 g) granulated sugar
- ½ cup (115 g) unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup (240 ml) whole milk
- 3 large eggs
- 2 tsp (10 g) baking powder
- 1 tsp (5 g) vanilla extract
- ¼ tsp (1 g) salt
- 1 cup (230 g) unsalted butter, softened
- 4 cups (480 g) powdered sugar
- 2-3 tbsp (30-45 ml) heavy cream
- 1 tsp (5 g) vanilla extract
- Food coloring (black, pink, and yellow)
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Grease and flour the 9-inch cake pans.
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, beat softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
- Add milk and vanilla extract; mix until just combined.
- Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until smooth.
- Divide the batter evenly between prepared pans and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Allow cakes to cool in pans for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Beat softened butter, powdered sugar, vanilla, and cream until fluffy; adjust consistency if necessary.
- Level the cakes if needed, stack them with frosting in between, then frost the top and sides.
- Use piping bags to create Hello Kittys face and features with colored frosting.
- Chill the finished cake for at least 30 minutes before serving to set the frosting.
