Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup (60g) all-purpose flour
- ¾ cup (150g) granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- 1 ½ cups (360ml) whole milk
- 4 large eggs
- 4 tablespoons (57g) unsalted butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 3 medium apples (Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, or mix)
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon sugar (for apples)
- 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon (for apples)
- extra flour for dusting apples
Instructions:
- Peel, core, and thinly slice the apples. Toss with lemon juice, 1 tablespoon sugar, cinnamon and extra flour to prevent sogginess. Set aside.
- In the food processor, combine the flour, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Pulse briefly to mix.
- Add the milk, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla extract to the food processor. Process until smooth, about 30 seconds.
- Arrange the sliced apples evenly in the bottom of the pie plate.
- Carefully pour the custard mixture over the apples, ensuring they are evenly distributed.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 45-55 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the custard is set, but still has a slight jiggle in the center. A toothpick inserted near the center should come out mostly clean.
- Let the pie cool completely on a wire rack before slicing and serving. The pie will continue to set as it cools.
