- 4 medium apples (such as Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, or Braeburn), peeled, cored, and thinly sliced (approximately 600g / 21 oz)
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice (15ml / 0.5 fl oz)
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon (1.25ml)
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar (25g / 0.9 oz)
- 1 cup all-purpose flour (125g / 4.4 oz)
- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar (300g / 10.6 oz)
- 1/2 teaspoon salt (2.5ml)
- 3 large eggs (approximately 150g / 5.3 oz)
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted and cooled slightly (113g / 4 oz)
- 3 cups whole milk (720ml / 24 fl oz)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (5ml / 0.17 fl oz)
- Optional: 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg (1.25ml)
Instructions:
- Peel, core, and slice the apples. Toss with lemon juice, cinnamon, and sugar.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, and salt.
- Add the eggs, melted butter, milk, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Whisk until smooth.
- Pour the batter into the pie plate. Arrange the apple slices evenly over the batter.
- Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a knife inserted near the center comes out clean.
- Let the pie cool completely on a wire rack before serving.
