Ingredients:

  • 2 large Russet potatoes (approximately 600g / 1.3 lbs), peeled or unpeeled, and cut into ½-inch thick fries
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil (30ml)
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt (5g)
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder (2g)
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper (1g)
  • Pinch of paprika (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Place the cut fries in a large bowl of cold water and soak for at least 30 minutes (or up to 2 hours). This removes excess starch for crispier results.
  2. Drain the fries thoroughly and pat them completely dry with kitchen towels. This is crucial for crisping.
  3. In a mixing bowl, toss the dried fries with olive oil, salt, garlic powder, pepper, and optional paprika. Ensure the fries are evenly coated.
  4. Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C). Place the fries in the air fryer basket in a single layer. You may need to cook in batches to avoid overcrowding.
  5. Cook for 15-20 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and crispy. Shake the basket occasionally for even cooking.
  6. Remove the air fryer french fries from the air fryer and serve immediately.
